Maintenance:
DAILY:
There are things that have to be done to your site on a daily, weekly and monthly time frame.
Your e-mail from visitors need answers to their questions quickly.
They are asking these questions from you because they trust you, and the best way to keep that trust is to answer their questions, or tell them you will find out and get back to them.
If you are working with affiliates, then of course you are going to be aware of emails coming in from them, so watch for “Check your Merchant Status”.
Your merchants and your customers will appreciate your efforts.
If your customers choose to Opt-out from your list, don’t correspond with or question your customer, just take their name of your list.
You never want to be accused of SPAMMING.
Those are the kind of complaints you never want to get.
Is you site online and doing what it is supposed to do?
Go on line every day and check out all the browsers, refresh, and be sure things look correct.
If you are paying for click advertising and you find your site is down, that is money down the drain.
The clicks add up whether your site is up and running or not and the costs are mounting.
Links have a tendency to break.
Check them every day to be sure they are up and running.
Your HTML editor is a good place to have these checked out.
Check your statistics every day, until you become so familiar with the trends that you find an easy way to check.
But, until that time, check every day.
If you are working with Affiliates, then be sure to visit the statistics interface for each network and individual affiliate partner, and input your total revenues into Quicken, or other accounting program.
Your program should be able to notify you if certain checks become overdue.
Your personal health should be at the top of this list.
- Sitting all day will only give you fatigue, strain and a fat bottom.
- Put aside the early morning to get your exercise and play time over before you sit down.
- Be sure to take regular breaks and stretch, relax and change venues to give your back, eyes and bottom a chance to get back to normal.
WEEKLY:
Add new pages to your site every week to keep it active and interesting to both your customers and also the search engines.
This will encourage your customers to keep coming back.
Be sure to publish your site frequently to update the search engines.
Your pay-for-click advertising campaign should have new keywords and keyword phrases.
Keep track of these new words and add them to your Overture, Findwhat and other campaigns on a weekly basis.
Time spent doing research keeps your site interesting and you up-to-date on the new things on the market and in the news.
You will find new tools and learn new methods, which will save you time and money later on.
MONTHLY:
If you are publishing your own Newsletter, you should spend the time and energy to bring interesting notes and information to your customers, to keep them up to date.
They will appreciate this because they might not have the time to do their own research.
This will also give them a reason to return to your website and possibly buy from you again.
Money should be coming in now, and you should take time to add up all your income and make note of your expenses.
This is a good way to track your activity, and the possible changes that have to be made to your site to keep it producing for you and your family.
QUARTERLY:
Start creating a new website.
The business world changes as crisis happen, such as 9/11, the war in Iraq, or even the hurricane seasons, and so on.
Diversification can possibly save the day for you in such times.
Hopefully, your diverse businesses will all balance out in the end, some will decrease and others will increase.
So be creative and diversify.
Always keep a lookout for great ideas with profitable market share, and of course more affiliates
opportunities, to gain back-end money.
Launch a new web site at least once a quarter to keep you balanced and active and making a profit in this unstable marketing place we are in today.
An old and true business maxim is that your business is either growing, or it is dying.
Which would you rather have?
